 Think back to 7th grade. Where did you live? What were you like? Did you go to church?
When we were in 7th grade, we had some key people in our lives that helped us get plugged into church youth groups. Because of this, we both accepted Christ as young teenagers. We spent most of every Sunday at church – mornings at the worship service and evenings with the youth group. The youth group played an important role in our spiritual lives.
For the most part, teenagers in Bulgaria don’t have this chance. There are very few mentors, youth sponsors, or youth pastors that can express God’s love and who can tell them about the saving grace of Jesus Christ. In fact, there are very few youth groups much less youth pastors!!
Not only will we help build a culturally relevant church for young Bulgarians but also build relationships with those people living around us. We can’t wait to share Christ’s love with our neighbors, our language teachers, shop owners, and everyone else we interact with on a daily basis.
That’s why we’re here. God has given us a passion for young people and is calling us to take that passion to Bulgaria. Are we a little anxious? Yes. Are we excited? Absolutely!! We can’t wait to see how God can use us to expand His Kingdom by reaching the youth of Bulgaria.
